If you’ve never used a Linux based operating system, Ubuntu is a great entry level Linux distribution that’s user friendly for beginners, especially for those of you that have been using Windows or MacOS. In this beginner’s guide, I will show the basics to help you get started using Ubuntu.

    It has actually been my experience that VLC on any Linux distribution (including Ubuntu) opens a monstrosity of a window and slows down the rest of my system. I would not recommend VLC on Linux right now.

    Very helpful! I'm going to try it out. Is there an app or free software similar to Audacity for recording .mp3s of online audio? Or does Audacity have an Ubuntu version? Thanks!

    Good tutorial, I have an oldAMD laptop on Windows 7 do you think Ubuntu will run faster on it? Does it use less resources?
