Go into Win 10 settings, apps, camera, advanced options, app permissions, set camera and microphone both to on. Should now work fine.

my problem is there was no sound anytime I launched the camera through the webcam software. I watched your video and decided to go in through the camera option on the menu (that you selected on your video @ 2:02) and voila! I can record with sound. good enough for me ! Thank you!!

For the case, you have a white image, just press on the sensor. if that solves the issue, open the webcam and use hot glue to make sure, the sensor hold its place.

I had the webcam's microphone disabled so it would not interfere in some way with my blue snowball mic. I reenabled my logitech's mic and the software is working now! yay!!

The 'main_laucher.exe' in the Logitech software problem has been recently fixed by the Cumulative update KB3194496 taking Windows 10 to Build 14393.222

Oh ok so the problem is with Windows. Ok, I was just about to by a new webcam. I'll have to check back when it works because a couple days ago I updated and it started not working. I can't get it to work still but I'll have to wait.

you should never had the problem with video, it's only a problem with photo, Latest Microsoft update has fixed the problem using video on Skype where it froze after 15 seconds, but the photo setting using the Logitech software still happens, as far as I am aware no fix has been found yet to take a photo on Logitech software

MS needs to turn off these forced updates. You should be able to choose if you want updates. This update I had to uninstall and reinstall countless software because it seemed to do something to windows firewall and break all the exceptions. I got my system and the software I use all working again but not my webcam. Same problem as everyone else. Apparently even Logitech can't fix it because this problem is widespread and they are blaming MS and saying MS has to fix it. Lousy customer service. I can use the camera with the WIN10 Camera program but it sucks.

hey I work at microsoft and thought about sharing the work around or temporary fix for you guys.

The problem centers on Microsoft's decision to prevent webcams from using MJPEG- and H264-encoded streams with Microsoft's new Windows Camera Frame Server. Said server allows multiple applications to access the camera stream—a change in the Windows 10 Anniversary Update—but Microsoft decided that this Frame Server should only receive an uncompressed YUY2 stream from your webcam. So, any webcam that's attempting to use one of the two forbidden codecs will now hang, freeze, or generally not work. Microsoft's intent was to find the best solution that keeps one's webcam available to apps like Windows Hello and Cortana without having multiple applications decode the same webcam stream simultaneously.

Microsoft's fix is to reintroduce support for these compressed streams. The company says a MJPEG fix will come first, as this is the easier situation to handle. The frame server will offer, and applications will be able to demand, MJPEG data, re-enabling high-quality video over USB 2 cameras. Later, a fix for H.264 (and other non-standard formats that some specialized cameras and applications make use of) will be developed. The H.264 fix is more complex, due to H.264's ability to negotiate the compression parameters between apps and the hardware.

Microsoft is working on a way to fix the problem and get webcams working again. The fix is likely to be released in September.

Until a proper fix is developed, affected users can disable the frame server feature and revert to the older behavior in which each application takes exclusive control of the camera. Rafael Rivera determined that some registry keys can be modified to prevent use of the frame server.

Possible Workaround or Resolution to this issue:

Specifically, a DWORD named EnableFrameServerMode at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows Media FoundationPlatform (for 32-bit Windows, and 64-bit applications on 64-bit Windows) and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREWOW6432NodeMicrosoftWindows Media FoundationPlatform (for 32-bit applications on 64-bit Windows) set to the value zero will restore expected camera functionality.

The usual registry warnings—don't mess it up and don't change it if you don't know what you're doing—apply to making this change. Once the fix is tested and shipped, this value can be removed

Man… I'm glad that i've reverted to Windows 7. I have a Logitech HD C170. Every Windows 10 updates caused me considerable pains befaore. Almost every W10 updates changed my settings, crashed, menu bugs, Nivida graphic drivers reboot loop and hundreds of other things. Also, their support on windows.com is anything but real support. Anyway, when you asked a solution, another update comes before any solution. Then, another problem resurface. Microsoft… i'm sorry for you. Your exit in computer world, will probably be faster than you think. I have a solution for you Microsoft… GIVE THE USERS, THEIR CONTROL BACK OF THEIR COMPUTERS. STOP FORCING UPDATES OR UPGRADES.

poster of video is right, but doesnt understand scope of problem as of yet:

    **********************************************************

doesnt affect cheap webcams that operate at 720p and below.

If your resolution is at 720p, 800×600, 640×480, 320×240 have no fear it will still work.
but if your resolution offers 1080p then you will have problems. With
Skype and other applications it will connect at a lower resolution then
adjust higher within a minute to 1080p and then crap out.
