I’ll take 8.1 with classic shell over 7 any day. 8 is very stable and smooth.

Does 8.1 pro offer any performance boost? All I want is a home version. No Buisness at all. Which one should I buy?

I see that Windows 7 still dominates sales worldwide at more then 50% market-share. Windows 8 and 8.1 come in at less then 15% together. That should tell Microsoft something !! IMO it's Junk for Desktop and Laptop computers without touch screen.

Here's what you need to know about Win8:
    It's horrible to use.
    It crashes all the time.
    Old software doesn't work.
    New features are useless.
    Stick with Windows 7.

I'm guessing about 80-90% of people saying Windows 8 sucks has never tried it!
They just read reviews online and pretty much only notice the negative parts! I'm using Win7 on my PC but Win8.1 on my laptop and I wish i could upgrade to Windows 8.1 on my PC! I think windows 8 is an amazing operation system even tho it has it's flaws. I'm gonna get ready for the negative comments and hate now 😉

I upgraded to 8.1 and the next time I turned on my computer it could not read my drive, I had to send it in to have it inspected and they just sent me a new one. It still asks me to upgrade to 8.1 and I'm just like nope!

I bought 8 Pro when it came out for $70. I didn't use any of the pro features, until I discovered the AMAZING remote desktop client. It's not well-encoded so images load slowly and videos barely play, but when doing web browsing and local programs it's low-bandwidth enough to run on a dialup-like connection. It's not worth the huge price difference between the standard and pro versions right now, but when it was a $30 difference I'd have bought a dozen copies if I had known better.

Using 8.1 Pro or not, I find it so frustrating, it makes me so angry that I literally want to punch babies. I even bought the startisback to have a normal start menu, but there are still things that are so strange. Like how to boot 8.1 into safe mode, how you can tell it to not need a password to log in but yet it still has the password to log in. It at random will not load programs as admin, even when you have only the admin profile on the system.

It is a crap shot for some drivers and even SSD controllers to even work with it. Just a week ago, 8.1 had a few updates. Which is fine, but upon booting the system up from the updates. It failed to find the SSD drive that windows was on. It was there in the Bios, but apparently with the updates it stopped seeing the SSD. Tried to reformat the drive and reload windows, but windows came back with an error that there was zero space on the drive; though I could clearly see that there was 119 GB of free space.

I am going back to Win7 at least with it I know that it is going to work with drivers and be reliable. With win 8.1 my experience has been just infuriating. If you like it and have not had any issues, great for you. But you do need to know that there are some that have and saying that they are "fanboys" or "stupid" is fucking absurd.
